At the recently opened Guangzhou Motor Show, Toyota has officially unveiled a new compact crossover Toyota Frontlander.
According to official data, the new car was born on Toyota’s world-leading TNGA-C platform, adopting the new design concept of “Urban Active”, focusing on shaping from the five core strengths of comprehensive advancement in appearance, space, intelligence, power, safety, etc. The “full-loaded” compact SUV with a sense of urban superiority and youthful vibrancy helps advanced young people to start an advanced life.
The novelty is based on the Corolla Cross model. Car production will be localized in China at the GAC Toyota plant. At the same time, China has another joint venture FAW Toyota, so it is possible that in the future there will be production of the Corolla Cross. The fact is that there have been similar cases in the past, when, for example, FAW Toyota produced the Toyota RAV4, and after some time began production of a recessed version of the SUV called Wildlander at the GAC Toyota plant.
The Frontlander almost completely replicates the design of the Corolla Cross. However, the crossover still got a new radiator grille, more modern optics and a modified bumper. The length of the novelty is 4485 mm, width – 1825 mm, height – 1620 mm. The wheelbase reaches 2640 mm.
In terms of design, the Toyota Frontlander 2022 inherits the “line” of the car in Japan. Specifically, the front end is equipped with a grille divided into two parts with a compact and slender upper part, while the large lower part is surrounded by thick contours. Frontlander 2022’s headlight system also has a split design similar to that of the car in Japan with a daytime positioning LED strip in the middle.
Meanwhile, the main headlight is located below and the sequential LED turn signals are at the top. Below the grille is a trapezoidal central air cavity and two circular fog lights. In addition, Toyota Frontlander 2022 does not use the “C”-shaped logo in the upper grille like cars in Japan, but instead is the familiar logo of Toyota.
Moving to the rear, the Toyota Frontlander 2022 has a taillight and bumper system similar to the Corolla Cross in the country of cherry blossoms. The difference of this SUV model lies in the fact that the car’s name is stamped on the trunk opening lever instead of being on the left side of the trunk door like cars in Japan.
In the interior, Fenglanda adopts a capable and spacious visual design with a sense of space. The steering wheel and shift lever are both wrapped in fine-touch leather, and the high-end models are also equipped with a 7-inch color TFT multi-function information display and a 9 The inch intelligent voice navigation system presents the indispensable sense of advanced and technological sense of an urban SUV, which is simple but not simple.
Under the hood of the Chinese Frontlander is a 2.0-liter naturally aspirated 171 hp. in combination with a variator. Drive – only front. A little later, an all-wheel drive hybrid modification of the model based on a 1.8-liter internal combustion engine and an electric motor on the rear axle will be released.
