Toyota led the world in gasoline-electric hybrid cars, but the BZ4X is their first battery electric vehicle. It was cautiously launched by the company earlier in 2022. While it’s not yet available in North America, the first BZ4Xs have been delivered to customers in Europe, and there appear to be problems with fast charging and the real world battery capacity and range of the vehicle. This is bad news for the Subaru Solterra electric SUV as well, as it’s built on the same platform as the Toyota BZ4X.
