Sony and Honda’s joint mobility venture unveiled a new EV prototype called Afeela during Sony’s presentation at CES in Las Vegas Wednesday. The brand will appear on the joint venture’s first production electric car, set to go on sale in North America in 2026.

Much is still unknown about the new brand, but Sony Honda Mobility CEO Yasuhide Mizuno said the car would leverage Sony’s experience with AI, entertainment, virtual reality, and augmented reality to present a unique EV.Overview

A new automotive brand called Afeela—the child of a joint venture between Sony and Honda—is about to break cover in 2026 with its first model, a smooth-sided EV sedan. A prototype was revealed at the 2023 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, flaunting a handsome, low-key design that’s in line with most new-to-market electric vehicles such as the Lucid Air and Tesla Model S. We still don’t know what the production model will be called, but we did learn some intriguing details about its content and features. For instance, a total of 45 cameras and sensors are scattered throughout the inside and outside of the vehicle, and it sports a powerful on-board computer. Other technological highlights include a cutting-edge architecture for driver-assistance and telematics systems, an infotainment system enhanced by a collaboration with Epic Games, and a self-driving feature.
