The 2023 Toyota bZ4X all-electric SUV is the brand’s first modern EV. It offers strong performance and a refined ride, but aspects of the bZ4X make you furrow your eyebrows and cock your head. For instance, with all-wheel drive, this SUV charges at a maximum rate of just 100 kilowatts, it has no glovebox and if you’re of the taller persuasion, the steering wheel rim obscures the instrument cluster. We’ll see if the good outweighs these annoyances as we pit it against competitors such as the Kia EV6, Tesla Model Y, Hyundai Ioniq 5, and Mustang Mach-E.
