The Subaru Solterra is much more than just a new electric SUV, it also marks the next stage of the company’s evolution. Like the rest of the motor industry, this Japanese car brand famous for off-roaders and four-wheel drive rally cars has to move with the times, and the Solterra is the firm’s first all-electric offering.
Thanks to a joint development project between the two companies, the Solterra shares its internals with the Toyota BZ4X, although while that car is available with front- or four-wheel drive, the Solterra – in true Subaru tradition – is all-wheel drive only. Two electric motors provide 215bhp, and the car has an official WLTP range of up to 289 miles.
